The Monastery AZ presents Illuminate: Featuring Lily Reeves, the newest exhibition highlighting artists who use light as a primary creative medium.
A sculptor of light and energy, Lily Reeves creates immersive environments that blur the boundaries between art, architecture, and the natural world. Rooted in the mythic landscapes of the American Southwest, her work draws from Light Art, Land Art, Ecofeminist thought, sustainability, craft, and spiritual traditions to build a singular visual language.
Using saturated light, optical materials, and elemental forces, Reeves transforms space into something experiential. Her installations invite viewers to slow down and enter environments where perception shifts and the familiar becomes otherworldly. For Reeves, light is more than illumination. It is a force capable of shaping experience, awakening curiosity, and deepening our connection to place.
As the founder of Reeves Studios, a UL-listed, full-service art and design studio, Reeves executes large-scale commissions that push the boundaries of neon and light-based sculpture. Simultaneously, she is shaping the next generation of artists through her Professorship at Arizona State University, one of the only institutions in the country teaching the craft of neon.
