It all began 12 years ago when a starving artist fell in love with a cute barista. Before they ever verbally professed their love, the Red Balloon emoji became the symbol for their affection and pursuit of creativity.
As we venture to build a creative hub in the heart of Peoria, we are extending an invitation for you to participate in the special exhibition at The Monastery to honor not only love, but new adventures and the spirit of creativity. As longtime participants, working artists, and leaders within the local arts community here in Arizona, we have noted that you have been incredibly inspirational and formative to our journey. And as we continue working to cultivate and promote the power of the arts, we seek to celebrate that effort with those who know that work best…yes, that’s YOU!
The Ask:
We are asking our artist friends and influencers (not in the social media sense) to create 1-2 works of art, in any medium capturing the essence of the “red balloon.” This has been a symbol of love, connection, support, and hope for us for a very long time. Our desire is for artists to fill our gallery space with red balloons and through your creative genius communicate and share the beauty of this symbology with those who need it most.

Show Details:
The Red Balloon Art Show will run May 4 - June 22 at The Monastery located at 8301 W Washington St, Peoria, AZ 85345. The show will officially open with a Grand Opening Party for the Monastery on May 17, 2025. You’re of course invited to party with us :)
We encourage you to make your work available for purchase, noting that The Monastery receives a 30% commission. Artists are responsible for delivery and pick up of their artwork. Pick up will be following the exhibit on Sunday, June 29th between 12pm - 3pm or Monday the 30th between 10am - 2pm.
