Sounds for the Creative Life
Listen. Make something. Rest. See where the music takes you.
Creativity does not always begin in the same place. Sometimes we need help settling our minds. Sometimes we need energy, movement, reflection, or permission to slow down.
These playlists were created as small extensions of The Monastery experience. Each one is curated around a different creative state, with music selected to help you focus, move, reflect, explore, or release. Put one on while you paint, write, journal, cook, work with your hands, sit quietly, or simply give yourself a few minutes to be present.
For when you need to quiet the noise and begin.
A mostly instrumental mix with enough movement to keep your mind engaged without competing for your attention. Put it on while you paint, write, sketch, work, read, or finally begin the thing you have been avoiding.Feeling: clear, spacious, rhythmic, grounded.
For when you want to loosen up, follow an idea, and see where it takes you.
Warm rhythms, global influences, psychedelic textures, soul, and enough energy to get your hands moving. This is the playlist for painting bigger, cutting up magazines, dancing around the studio, experimenting, and making without overthinking.
Feeling: curious, warm, playful, kinetic.
For creating from somewhere deeper.
Music for reflection, meditation, intuition, prayer, journaling, slow making, or simply sitting with yourself for a while. This one should feel spiritual without belonging to one particular religious tradition. Less background music and more invitation.
Feeling: contemplative, expansive, sacred, inward.
For when you need to stop pushing.
A gentle descent for the end of a creative session, a difficult day, or any moment when your nervous system needs less. Nothing to accomplish. Nothing to figure out. Make slowly, breathe, stretch, journal, sit outside, or simply listen.
Feeling: soft, spacious, restorative, accepting.
