Forget about having a specific idea in mind—this workshop is all about discovering new possibilities through the materials around you.

Jyll will guide you in exploring how to respond to the materials you find, from magazines and fabric to personal items, photographs, letters, and more. Whether you bring a work-in-progress or choose to work entirely with provided materials, you’ll learn how to create new, unique compositions by cutting, pasting, and layering different textures and images. Collage is an accessible and versatile art-making technique that invites you to mix paper, fabric, photographs, paint, and even three-dimensional elements to create something entirely fresh.

This workshop is perfect for anyone looking to breathe new life into their existing art or simply explore the fascinating world of collage art.

Instructor Background:

Jyll Mullen, a seasoned collage artist, has spent years experimenting with the various mediums. With an interest in puzzles and a keen eye for detail she started collaging, combining pieces of her own artwork that she loved, but ones that never quite found a home. Through collage, Jyll discovered the magic of transformation—taking old, discarded art and giving it new meaning. She blends intention with intuition, thoughtfully pairing symbols and images, while also embracing the joy of serendipity in the creative process.

Whether you're an experienced artist or a complete beginner, Jyll will help you explore new ways to bring discarded or incomplete artwork to life, and turn scraps and leftovers into cohesive compositions.
